General Financial Insights (GFI) – Creditworthiness Analytic Solution

  • General Financial Insights (GFI) is a Shariah-compliant creditworthiness analytic solution that revolutionises the way financial institutions assess the risk of loan default. GFI is a credibility scoring system that integrates artificial intelligence, machine learning, behavioural science and psychometrics to provide a comprehensive analysis of an individual’s likelihood to repay a loan. Originally developed with a focus on business financing, GFI has since expanded its scope to serve retail customers and investment firms. GFI assesses potential borrowers from three perspectives.
    • (1) Compliance – assesses individual’s willingness to pay
    • (2) Ability to pay – assesses individual’s behavioural competencies such as grit and perseverance
    • (3) Ethical financial decision-making - assesses individual's financial knowledge and competencies.

GFI collects and analyses psychographic data to predict if a person will repay loan. This approach allows lenders to access information that may not be available through traditional credit assessment. This offers a more accurate and inclusive evaluation of an individual’s creditworthiness. Additionally, GFI platform has been designed to have the capability to gather multiple sources of data such smartphone metadata and bank’s transactional data. This will allow financial institutions who would like to integrate multiple types of alternative data for prediction.

GFI plays a vital role in bridging the financing gap that affects MSMEs, a critical sector in Malaysia’s economy. GFI contributes to more equitable economic growth, financial inclusion. It also supports the increased participation of young business owners, fostering the growth of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Malaysia.
