Summary

Signature Snack was founded in 2014, with the goal to make healthy snacking affordable and accessible for everyone. Over the years, we saw positive changes in the community as Malaysians began adopting a healthy lifestyle. Thus began our expansion to reach out to the mass market. Creating a more diverse range of products other than just snacks was a great start. Rebranding ourselves to Signature Market, we explored a variety of products from daily cooking essentials such as spices and condiments to lifestyle needs with the launch of our very own in-house brand, Plant Origins. Plant Origins offers a therapeutic approach to holistic health with aromatherapy and personal care products, giving our consumers a complete and wholesome experience to their healthy journey with us. Signature Market is all about inspiring and simplifying healthy living for all walks of life. Right from the start, we have always made it a priority to have a significant price point while motivating the community.

Moving forward, there is just so much more we want to accomplish. Larger aspirations, bigger goals, and bigger achievements. We can see there are still rooms to expand in the marketplaces especially in our offline stream. The fundraising concept is therefore called out. With a focus on healthy living as a whole, we are currently developing a brand that includes the three components of healthy living; namely our Body, Mind, and Spirit.  Dear Signature Snackers, look forward to what the future has in store for us!

Problem

1. After Privacy Act implemented in October 2021, Facebook advertising has decrease effectiveness causing cost to acquire new customers to skyrocket 4 fold.
2. Consumers demand an upgraded customer experience that involves merging online & offline channels together.
3. Consumer wants a wider range of products that can upgrade & enhance their lifestyle.

Solution

1. Set up retail outlet in key cities to serve our existing customer deeper. Create more experience to educate the community on living the lifestyle.
2. Provide NOW service delivery within 60 minutes instead of 3 days to key cities.
3. Increase SKUs in categories previously impossible to send via courier.

We launched our 1st destination mall outlet in IOI City Mall, Putrajaya 15 May 2023 and early metrics is very promising.

NPS Score for retail is 86.6% vs 82.8% in online. Retail CAC is RM 30 vs Facebook CAC of RM 115. Retail GP is 7% higher, no subsides shipping is needed. Due to closer relationship with sales person, new customers’ 2nd month repeat purchase is 12.4% versus 9.6% in Facebook.

Customers

Signature Market targets majority females between the ages of 22 to 40 who lead healthy lifestyles (Physically, mentally & spiritually).

Each retail outlet are able to acquire 500 – 1,000 new customers per month. All of the outlet chosen are destination mall with huge walking traffic. With constant in-store events & promotion during the weekends, we are confident we can increase our customer base even faster.

We are a brand owner and our business model has always been sale of products under the brand Signature Market & Plant Origins. We own our own channel (Online & Retail) hence we understands our customer more.

Market

Grocery E-commerce

In 2021 we have 5% of market share in Malaysia. We plan to capture a higher percentage with our NOW service (60 minutes delivery) & more SKUs to complete the lifestyle experience.

Grocery eCommerce in Malaysia is only 2% vs 9% in China. Following China’s trends in grocery eCommerce technology & service, we are confident our new service will be a game changer.

Our retail outlet allowing us to build new market share in retail. Signature Market is not your daily neighbourhood grocery store but a grocery store you visit monthly to stock up on our best sellers just like Trader’s Joe in US & Hema in China.

Signature Market is a lifestyle brand that focus on curating Better For You CPG alongside with brands that are started during the same time such as Amazing Graze & Jobbie. Comparing to the earlier peers that focus on Vegetarian and Organic, Signature Market focus on giving consumer choices. Signature Market educates consuming real wholesome food that is delicious yet better for you. Instead of focusing on being category leader in selected hero products, Signature Market is a lifestyle brand that curates products that fits the lifestyle.

Globally, Signature Market is a lifestyle brand that curates better for you CPG with an Asian twist, culture & flavours. We source our products from manufacturers across Asia, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan & South Korea.

During weekend attending a yoga or breathwork session and chill at our community café reading a book and grab an essential oil bath bomb on the way back to end the day with pampering self-love at home. Dropping by our co-working café to complete on some work follow by an affordable pescatarian meal at our canteen and follow by joining a hot yoga session at 4pm.
